Overview

As of October 2, 2026, email verification is required for external recipients used in your build notification workflows.
Going forward, build status updates will only be sent to Codemagic team members or external recipients who have verified their email address and confirmed that they want to receive emails from Codemagic.

Email verification helps ensure that build notifications are sent only to recipients who have opted in to receiving them. This improves email deliverability while giving recipients greater control over the notifications they receive.

What Is Changing?

Previous Behavior

Email addresses added to your publishing settings were checked for basic formatting and valid domain records before build notifications were sent.

New Behavior

External recipients — people who are not members of your Codemagic team — will need to verify their email address by opting in to receive emails from Codemagic.
Build notifications will not be sent to unverified external recipients until they complete verification.

Who Needs to Be Verified?

Verification is required for new external recipients added to your workflow configuration in the publishing section of your codemagic.yaml file or under Notifications > Email in the Flutter workflow editor.

To avoid disrupting existing workflows, external recipients who have received build notifications within the past 30 days will be treated as already verified.
Members of your Codemagic team are verified automatically.

How Verification Works

Unverified recipients receive an opt-in email from Codemagic the first time a workflow runs with their email address as a recipient. That run doesn't send them a build notification. Once they verify their email address, they'll start receiving build notifications from subsequent workflow runs.

Note:
Verification is team-wide, so external recipients only need to verify their email address once to receive notifications across all workflows within that team.

Monitoring Email Verification Status

Select your personal account or team and go to Settings > External emails in the Codemagic UI to see which external email addresses have been verified.
Additionally, when a workflow runs with an unverified email address as a recipient, team admins (or account owners) will receive an email notification.

As of September 6, 2026, we are introducing the Xcode 26.6 build machines as our new default. Additionally, Xcode latest will be switched to 26.6.

Key points:

• If your Xcode version is set to latest or if no Xcode version is configured, then your builds will utilize the Xcode 26.6 build machine.
• Refer to the build machine specs for details on preinstalled software and available runtimes on Xcode 26.6 machines.

Action required:

• Please review your build configuration promptly to avoid unexpected behavior after the switch.
• You can always set a specific Xcode version in your build settings. Configure this in the Build section of the Flutter workflow editor or the environment section of codemagic.yaml.

As of April 26, 2026, we are introducing the Xcode 26.4 build machines as our new default. Additionally, Xcode latest will be switched to 26.4.

To ensure that builds on Codemagic run with the highest levels of reliability and security, we are deprecating Linux build machines running Ubuntu 20.04.

Starting February 23, 2026, build machines running Ubuntu 20.04 will be removed from the pool, and Ubuntu 24.04 will become the new default for Linux builds.

During the transition period, we will conduct several brownouts during which builds will fail for users who have explicitly set 20.04 as the Ubuntu version in their codemagic.yaml. We strongly recommend migrating to Ubuntu 24.04 as soon as possible to avoid disruptions.

There will be no change for Flutter Workflow Editor users or for codemagic.yaml users who are using the default machine type until the default is switched. After that point, all Linux builds will run on Ubuntu 24.04.

As of January 11, 2026, we are introducing the Xcode 26.2 build machines as our new default. Additionally, Xcode latest will be switched to 26.2.

As of November 24, 2025, we are introducing the Xcode 26.1 build machines as our new default. Additionally, Xcode latest will be switched to 26.1.

Starting November 10, 2025, we will remove the following build machines from our platform:

• Mac machines running Xcode 15.0
• Mac machines running Xcode 15.1
• Mac machines running Xcode 15.2
• Mac machines running Xcode 15.3
• Mac machines running Xcode 15.4

Please migrate your workflows to Xcode 16.x or later.
